Have you ever noticed that everything that is hidden arouses envy? This is the quintessence of Elisabeth von Wrede's artistic approach: lifting the mask of the unmentionable, looking through the keyhole, savouring the delicious fruit of the forbidden. The most difficult thing is to hide what should normally be seen, because the ultimate goal of all artistic creation is to show, to express, even to denounce. Elisabeth only tries to arouse interest, to reveal a little of what she wishes to conceal, so that the visible suggests the hidden. This is how a double reading has naturally imposed itself on her work, a reading where the spectator will be confronted with two universes: a more aesthetic universe where she works on the research of the harmony of colours, the rhythm, the balance of forces and the radiance of emotions, and a second universe, more conceptual, where the veil is deposited on the emotions, protects the intimate and comes to sublimate this modesty symbolized by the white square.

The white square punctuates the anarchic curves, soothing the anger by softening the intense vibratos. Inspired by human relations and the permanent contradictions in our relationships with others, her art is all about paradoxes. The human being is the keystone of her creations and even more so in her sculptures where it holds an essential place since it participates in the elaboration of her works. By blowing words, sentences, following an imposed theme, it becomes a determining actor for the sculpture which takes shape little by little and materializes under her pen. This interaction between the spectator and her works is essential for the artist. It is a game of reflections where one cannot exist without the other, an essential echo.
