Based in Provence, Aurore Pélisson is a textile artist whose practice revolves around exploring textures, techniques, and imprints connected to the living world. Her work is visceral; Aurore draws upon our organic matter to reveal a different aesthetic, a different perspective—one that is less polished, less linear. A vision that is in harmony with “the flesh of our bodies, the flesh of our earth,” warm and alive.
After graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Lyon in 2009, she moved to London, where she developed collaborations with the young art scene. She returned in 2011 to Provence, her native land, and opened a textile studio-gallery in Avignon. Today, her studio is located at the foot of Montagne de Lure, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
Her practice is rooted in the use of natural materials and a scale that reflects her own body. From the very beginning, she has favored raw plants and plant-based dyes, rejecting plastics and other toxic materials. This approach originated in 2007 in the Luberon region, during her first experience at Couleur Garance, while she was a student in the BTS fashion design program. She then pursued a textile program at the Beaux-Arts in Lyon and continued her training in plant-based dyes, notably under Michel Garcia.
Her practice evolves in tandem with her artistic vision, defined as an ode to life. Her studio serves as a space for personal experimentation, complemented by opportunities to share knowledge that regularly punctuate her work.
