Sallin

Juliette Sallin is a multidisciplinary artist based in Geneva, Switzerland. Her work explores the representation of the body through matter and time, addressing themes such as mortality and regeneration, and their interactions with the more-than-humans.

The artist devotes herself to the use of natural inks, which she prepares herself from roots, bark, leaves, petals, metals, animal secretions and insects. These colors are sensitive materials that unfold unpredictably on silk, creating a dynamic dialogue between color and texture, between matter and movement.

Sallin explores the symbiosis between the artist and her materials, using plants as an extension of her own body. The creative gesture then becomes vegetal, where the suppleness and texture of the plants directly influence the areas of color on the fabric. This approach strengthens the bond between artist and materials, blurring the boundaries between subject and object. Her work is often site-specific, allowing the biocenosis of the place to permeate the fabric.

Juliette Sallin's work explores the materiality of human, plant and atmospheric bodies through somatic, symbolic and spiritual performances. She seeks to extend the limits of the body and perception, establishing a constant dialogue with the environment.
