Yoona Hur is a ceramic artist based in Seoul and New York.  She splits her time between the two cities and creates limited editions rooted in clay, antiquity and contemporary minimalism.  She often takes inspirations from ancient ceramics because they are closely tied to the rituals of the everyday and the ceremonial; she sees them as physical portals into the ancient civilization. Drawn to the anonymous makers and ambiguity behind the stories behind the ancient artifacts, she has been examining both Korean ancient funerary vessels as well as the Ancient Greek and Italian sculptures.
