Saskia Saunders weaves a vision of forest regeneration for sustainability & natural wellbeing pioneers. She creates exclusive collections of work and private commissions for clients and galleries worldwide, from her garden studio in Buckinghamshire, England.
Saunders’ work embodies the sensation of lightness and freedom we feel when we immerse ourselves in the sanctuary of our natural world.
By bringing the ancient craft of weaving into contemporary form, her work addresses our need to live more sustainably, in harmony with nature. Saunders uses natural materials and yarns such as linen, hemp and paper to connect people directly to the positive energy of nature.
Saunders has exhibited in London, Paris, New York, and Hong Kong. From her travels in Japan, Saunders is also inspired by the Japanese aesthetic values, notably including : Ma – appreciating the space around things, Wabi-sabi – accepting imperfection and Shibui – enjoying subtle beauty.
Saunders’ sculptures do not seek to be perfect, because nature and life are both imperfectly beautiful. Her work invites a calm pause, a moment of contemplation for us to reconnect with ourselves, and the natural world around us.
