Jean Duruisseau's abstract work is the result of experiments with matter and texture.

He paints with a mixture of mineral pigments, marble powder and linseed oil on great Belgian linen woven to measure.

The essential characteristic of his work is this artistic material that evokes the patina of ancient walls, the raw earth, something primitive and natural.

The layers of paint are the result of constant back and forth on the artwork, crushing, scraping, scratching - impastos that aim to reach the ultimate point of balance.

Colours must find their right place, and the horizon found in most of his paintings takes shape.
